This competency-based course is the last in a sequence of three designed for alternative and renewable energy technology. It provides students with project-based experiences in photovoltaic (PV) installation. Technical instruction includes an introduction and reviews of workplace safety procedures, resource manage-ment, and trade mathematics as well as basic entrepreneurship. Emphasis is placed on the electrical design adaptations for PV systems, installation of subsystems and components, maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques for PV system malfunctions, and exploration of local, national, and global markets for PV applications. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.
Enrollment requires the successful completion of the Photovoltaics/2 (72-65-60) course.
