This competency-based outline is the first of a two-course sequence and contains a 200-hour manicuring training needed under the rules and regulations issued by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology(CSBBC) to successfully pass the license examination. Instruction includes state regulations and basic chemistry, electricity, bacteriology, anatomy, and physiology in cosmetology as well as health, safety, and sanitation issues. It focuses on water and oil manicures and part one of pedicuring. The competencies in this course outline are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.
Enrollment requires students to be sixteen years of age or older. Applicants must have completed tenth grade or its equivalent.
