This competency-based course is the third in a sequence of five covering aspects of barbering pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act. It provides students with project-based learning in the barbering trade: review of the Board of Barber & Cosmetology rules and regulations, health, safety & hazardous substances. It also includes technical instruction in proper chemical & electrical use & safety in barbering, and bacteriology, anatomy & physiology, as well as permanent waving, chemical straightening and haircutting. This course prepares students for the examination by the State Board of Barber Examiners. Hours acquired through this course may be applied toward a 1500-hour barbering course at any time within three years from a student’s last date of attendance.
